Finally got out to really shoot my new Eun Jin Sumatra 2500 (.22 cal) rifle this past weekend! Man this thing *IS* a hammer. It throws the pellets hard and straight. Very nice trigger, if not up to the same level as match rifle, and loud as hell for an airgun, but there are reasons for that.
On a cold breezy day, bench rested, (just hand/bench, I forgot my bags and rack) I was easily putting pellets in a 5" bull (and through the backstop!) at 100 yards. Some old dudes with a pile of really cool vintage guns showed up to burn some black powder on the range and one of them had a chrony, so I put a few through the uprights...
with about 2700psi in the tank (full operating pressure is 3000), at minimum power it was chucking out H&N Baracuda Match (5.51mm) Heavies (21.14 grains) at about 840FPS and on full power it chucked the suckers at 1108FPS. That cookin'! This gun is for sure as accurate as I am and a super hard hitter. Some woodchucks and squirrels will surely meet their maker at the hands of this sucker come summer.
(yes I know my scope is on sideways in the above pictures... I fixed that and have exchanged the Leapers 4x32 AO for a Hawke 2-7x32 HD AO IR.)

Nice! I've always wanted a pellet gun. A real* gun would be way too much for me since I don't hunt, and I got an almost perfect score while trying out for my high school's rifle team several years ago. So I definitely love target shooting, especially if I'm not in school and am able to set up toy cars and army men instead of boring paper circles. :D
*yes, I know that these are still real guns and should be treated as such. But you know what I mean. I don't want anything lethal or anything that requires a permit/license.

I've been curious about these high end air guns and this just adds to that.

nice! What kind of air tank does this thing use? I have never seen a high powered pellet gun like this up close. I have a benjamin .20 at home, it does alright, but this thing looks like a beast.

I hit a wine cork from 60 ft with my daisy while grilling two 1.5 lbs ribeyes at 3 am over the holidays with my brother
But your story is way cooler/more eloquent

Very cool. I have a Remington .177 that will fire at around 1300 fps with the correct ammo.

you're fooling your self if you think a high end pellet gun can't be fatal. this thing is throwing them at 1108fps, that's on par with a .22 cal rifle. use to have a real nice one that I modded to throw them out at up to 1500+ fps. I killed a 20lb beaver with it. minus some high end .22 round beavers can be a challenge, all fat and thick skinned and shit. yeah well placed close range to the head, might even kill a man.

very nice.
I have a few pellet guns, and plink most nights in my basement.

Yes, but again, you know what I mean. It would have to hit someone in a pretty precise area to be fatal, whereas something bigger could cause crazy blood loss regardless of the location of the wound. (Yes, this could do that as well, but it would take longer to bleed out) Plus I don't think I'd get one quite this powerful, anyway. Most likely I'd try to find the same kind they used in my school, since those packed quite a punch but obviously wouldn't be enough to kill someone, or else they'd never have been put in a school.

This has a built-in dual high-pressure tanks totalling 500cc capacity that operate at 3000PSI (206ish-bar). the tank has a high-pressure quick-disconnect foster fitting on it. I have a three-stage foot pump (takes 150lbs force to reach 3000psi) but you can also fill it from a SCBA tank or SCUBA tank or with a high-pressure compressor (those are EXPENSIVE). At minimum power I can get about 40 accurate shots on a full charge before I have to pump for about 3-5 minutes to refill it. I shot about 100 rounds on Sunday and pumped it twice on the range (I came to the range with a full tank)

thats awesome that you can foot pump it. That would be a deal breaker to me, to be dependent on an external tank for air. Nice.

yup, all these ultra-high velocity .177 guns sound impressive, but the real problem is that .177 is so light it can't sustain supersonic velocities (not enough momentum) so it drops subsonic quickly and when it does that the transonic shock waves destabilize the pellet, making them less accurate at long range... also assuming you need to go to something like a 5.4 grain PBA pellet to get 1300FPS the muzzle energy looks like this:
.177@5.4grains@1300fps=20.27FPE
.22@21.14grains@1108fps=57.64FPE
that bigger pellet has a better ballistic coefficient and will travel farther and transfer more than twice the energy to the target.
Not that 1300fps isn't crazy-high-velocity mind you ;)

I highly recommend the Sumatra from a versatility and shooting experience, but it has some annoying little "features" that once dealt with are not so bad.
